Hi all,

Looks like tickets for the log booms on Lake WA just went on sale. I'm curious if anyone is considering this or another place on Lake WA to view the Blue Angels?

I'm considering not doing it. Not sure choppy lake and close quarters with booze is my tug's scene, but I'm curious how others feel, and if anyone has plans to do this. My tug "Rivets" is a 31CB and we took delivery last year. Any suggestions of better alternatives?

Regards,

Mark.

We did it several years ago and had a great time! Our only issue was having 6 onboard for 3 days! (It's a good thing they were family!) Very glad we had a portable generator on board. Just a great time!

Ah thanks, the gennie is a great idea!

We did it three years ago (the last time they held Seafair). We only used the boom one day (different boat) but it was an absolute blast. I'm not sure I could do three days - my liver would revolt! My reccomendations:

**have a dinghy/kayak/raft to get to shore. we did and had guests come in/out through the day.
**Generator is a must- especially for the electric grill.

What are your requirements for alternative locations?

If you just want to catch the BA, and then leave - you can get a great view of them just north of the I90 bridge. You can't anchor, but if you just find a spot and drift you'll have a great view as they buzz over you.

Just north of I-90 is good but we prefer the northeast tip of Bailey Peninsula where the bridge doesn’t block your view from the low flying action. From this vantage point you have excellent sight lines down where the soloists do their thing and there are occasions where they fly directly over you.

Bringing this thread up for 2023 Seafair. I'm thinking of going for the first time. Anyone have thoughts on how we tie our boats to the boom? I have an R29. Is it OK to just snug the swim step up to the boom or does it need some additional support? Is it OK to have the dinghy tied to the bow? I saw rules on shuttle boats, but don't think those are intended for dinghies.
Thank you!

I do not do sea fair as it is always a sh**show to put it mildly. I go to canada for mid July to mid august. That said, I will be on the opening day log boom. You can stern tie to it with your swim
Step cleats no problem. The mini fenders on the swim step will prevent any damage. I was like this for 3 days last opening day, no problems.
