Auto Pilot Remote Problem

Yes, Garmin autopilot components can be registered. I included in my registration the GHP10, Electronic Control Unit, CCU and the GPSMap 5212.And, they all show on my Garmin account. The only component in the autopilot system which I could not get to take for product registration was the 2L pump. Hope this answers your question. Finding serial numbers will be difficult for factory installed autopilot, I installed my system therefore was able to get serial numbers prior to mounting.

Mark, thanks for the info. If you have a chance, it might help to know where you found the serial numbers on those various units. And did you use the serial numbers? Or unit IDs? I really appreciate any added details you can provide.

Here's an answer to my question to Mark. I just went onto Garmin's product registration screen after logging in to my Garmin. When I went to marine products, it asked me for unit ID, not serial number (I must have had some other screen last time, because it asked for serial number last time I tried). I plugged in the chartplotter ID and up came my serial number! Perfect. I'm going to work though the other ID numbers I got off of the screen and see what all I have. I think I may have everything except the radar unit. The bottom line, though, appears to be that we don't have to try to get serial numbers off of installed units to get everything registered.

Gini: all u need is the Unit ID and Garmin will lookup SN for u when you register. Sorry for not mentioning this in my previous post. 🙁

Gini, good news. That is what I really enjoy with this forum as typically someone in our small world of tug owners has been down a path where a question comes up or a problem surfaces.

Regards,
Mike

I must admit, the Garmin technique of having a data base correlating Unit IDs with Serial Numbers is a great benefit to Garmin customers. As mentioned here, once the Garmin stuff has been installed it's nigh impossible to get access to the serial number plates. Having the Unit IDs displayed on the Chart Plotter was a smart move by Garmin IMO. I wish many other manufacturers of products that require SNs for registration could follow Garmin's example. 🙂
