I had a blast Tugging around the islands near Cedarville / Hessel and Detour Village area of Lake Huron. Got to do some ROV diving. Didnt find any sunken treasures but very interesting non the less. Everyone in the area was incredibly nice. My nickname there is (tugboat) heh heh.
Thanks to all who offered safe harbor and thoughts of tugging together.
The tow there and back was just fine. I was very happy how well the it towed. I got just a shade better than 11 MPG average with my Silverado 1500.
The only tug problem I had on entire trip was the first mates seat. The plastic riser foot broke off. Not much support.
So I got some brass angle things at hardware store and fixed it all up. Strong enough now.
This was also the first trip I towed my Mercury 200 inflatable behind tug. Its a pretty small inflatable. It worked very well even in some strong cross winds it tracked. Good fit for a 21.
Overall the trip was just under 2,000 miles. Could tow that thing around the world 😀

I don't know about you, but I would be careful when commenting about my first mates seat. 😱 😉

Sage advice, Rick. He should be happy he could find a good fix at the hardware store!

I'm curious if you had any issues towing with the Silverado. I'm thinking about a 25 but I have a 2012 Tundra that I thought might be on the light side for towing a 25. If you towed a 27 with a 1500 I might be okay.

Funny you ask. I have since bought a Ranger 27. And moved up to a Chevy Silverado 2500. Have not towed it yet but Mark the Ranger dealer on Kent Island uses the 2500. I trust just about anything he says so went with his personal pick of trucks.
I plan on longer trips so wanted the diesel.
