Bahamas Capable??

CaptD, I do believe you were going to be taking your tug on the Bimini Run. Have you done this yet? Anybody main the run to Bimini and the Bahamas? Seems like with it being as sea worthy as she is, the great fuel economy, and being so large inside for her size, and very shallow draft that an R-25 or R-29 would be a great choice.

Would love to hear about anybody who has actually made this run or is contemplating it.

We usually go to the Abacos, leaving Palm Beach heading for the West end. We have been over to the Bahamas about a dozen times. I have gone over with the 22 ft C-Dory. Just got to pick a nice day. Head out early in the morning about 7:00 . you can be in the West End for lunch. Or you can check into customs in Alice Town in the Biminies, leaving from Miami. This would be the route to Nassau & the Exumas

My favorite thing to do. We will be leaving Homossasa in about two weeks, heading for the Keys then around to Palm Beach to cross over at least by the 1st of February. We are readying the Lucky Fin now. 😀

Do not set out for the Bahamas if the wind is out of any part of the North. Even in a slight breeze. :cry:

Any who would like to cross over with us would be welcome.

You are my inspiration here buddy!! Take LOTS and LOTS of pictures. Very much looking forward to hearing how the Lucky Fin does on the trip! I read about a few people heading over in C-Dorys and when crossing the Gulf Stream it can make for one nasty trip..

Anyway, I have not done the Abacos or Exumas and am planning on doing so. As I stated earlier, I think the Ranger would be ideal for this type of cruising. Really looking forward to hearing all about your trip, seeing your pictures, and finding out what worked and didn't work well for you on Lucky Fin.

Yeah, I follow a number of sailing blogs, so am familiar with the trip. Rather it is how the Ranger does that I am far more curious about.

I don't see why not. One would need to be prudent and watch the weather (as one should in any boat), otherwise I think the boat could handle it. Boats smaller (not much smaller :shock: ) and less sea worthy do it.
