barnacle buster treatment

want to do a treatment on my D4300. How many gallons of solution is needed to get the cooling system filled with the product for 3 hour treatment?

Do you just pour into the strainer as the engine takes it? How fast does the engine take it? Dont want to introduce any air into the system.

If you want to do it right and easy, create a closed loop and circulate the mixture for a couple of hours. I am on the road now and do not have access to my computer. I have a complete list of instructions for the Yanmar, which is a bit different, but the process is the same. The list was posted at one time. Maybe someone else can find it and post it. Doing it the way I explain would require an couple of gallons.

The best way to do the bangle buster treatment is in the Loop. 4 gallons should be enough to do the D4. You can purchase a bucket already set up to do the job or make one. I made one using a 120Volt portable sub pump placed in the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket. I installed a Groco flush adapter to each of my engine raw water strainers suction side and then remove the hose going to the exhaust elbow this is my return side. I close the thru hull ball valve install the Groco fitting and hose. install a hose reducing fitting into the hose removed from the exhaust elbow. This fitting reduces to a 5/8" hose that is returning the banal buster to the 5 gallon bucket. Before starting the flush I remove the raw water pump impeller. This helps with the flow of the barnacle buster through the raw water system. I start with a bucket of clean fresh water, pump that through then empty the bucket. Fill it with barnacle buster and let it circulate. Continue to inspect the bucket for debris. If you see a lot of crud building up in the bucket. Stop, empty the bucket into another container. Most of the debris will settle to the bottom. Now carefully pour the solution back into the flushing bucket to separate the crud using a screen. Now start circulating again. Let the solution sit in the cooling system over night. Drain the flushing bucket and fill it with fresh water circulate this through the next morning. Empty the bucket and fill again with fresh water. Circulate again until you feel that you have removed all the banicale buster and the cooling system is full of clean fresh water. If you removed the impeller, install a new impeller remove the flushing attachments and install all hoes to proper locations . Open the thru hull ball valve and Strat the engine. Check for proper water flow out of exhaust outlet and check for leaks. If you have an anode protected cooling system install new anodes after completing the flushing process.

I’ve got all my gear, including the Groco strainer cap with threaded fitting on the top. My circulating motor and bucket just arrived this afternoon and I’ll be heading out to the boat tomorrow to do a closed loop treatment. On my D for 300 the return hose that goes to the exhaust elbow is a flexible tube approximately 1 inch in diameter what did you use to reduce this hose to mate with the 5/8 hose fitting.
