Batteries

I've read the owners manual and studied the unit, but I can't find any switches. The DC end has the battery connections and the AC end has the black buttons for charger and inverter, and two wire groups coming in/out. Also, the manual indicates that there is an AGM 1 setting and an AGM 2 setting. What does the end cap look like?

I am not on the boat so I am trying to recall but I think the two switches are located under the DC end cap. On the Promariner 1220i the end caps are held in place by two screws (phillips) located on the top of each cap. The switches, I think, were to the left of where the DC leads come off for running to the battery banks - they look like what I would call a Dip Switch with each switch having three toggles. I use the AGM 1 setting (called Promariner to confirm). Just remembered I have and old 1215i in the basement and confirmed the above.

Phil,
Depending on your model, there should be a little dial with numbers. Check your manual and turn it to the correct number. You will also need to change your setting on the Morningstar controller. And by the way, had you stayed with flooded, none of this would have been necessary! okay, I am done with the razing.

Hi Mike,
I'll let you know in 7 or 8 years whether my battery choice was a good one. My unit is the ProMariner True Power Combi 1500QS and I don't see the little dial on the unit or in the manual. I do need to get out my magnifying glass to read the small print on the face of the unit. I checked the Morningstar controller manual, and it appears that I should have all the DIP switches set at off. And, I expect to do my share of things that warrant razing on an ongoing basis. Thanks for all your help....when it comes to our boats, you've been there...done that. RT should hire you to do new owner shakedown cruises on the east coast.

I sent you a copy of the manual in your personal e-mail. Look at page 7. Turn the dial to 2 or 3. That is providing you have the same inverter, which I think you do.

Hey Mike,
After my last post, I got out my magnifying glass....I can now see the microscopic dial on the front face of the inverter/ charger. That thing must have been designed on April Fools day...could they have made the dial any smaller? Think I'll call Lifeline Battery tomorrow and ask which AGM setting to use. Thanks.

Phil
