Good day everyone
As I’m sure everyone is aware accessing batteries to disconnect for storage and or replacement is not the best. I came up with a solution that works amazingly. Just wanted to share with everyone as this forum has provided me with so much helpful info over the years. I used what’s called a linear slide rail and purchased 4 extra linear slide blocks mounting them on the board which the batteries are placed on allowing the batteries to slide out to be worked on without crawling into a confined space. Ordered 4 extra blocks per side mounted under the middle of where the batteries run as to give even weight distribution. Also ordered 4x linear stop collars to secure in place. Hope the pictures help understand this and the Links from Amazon below ….

First class job!!!

These slides are new to me and look great for many applications. They look like a much easier way to move the battery weight. But playing devils advocate, since they now slide easier, how are you making sure that they don't move under rough seas? I've been in 5-6 ft seas and had everything end up on the floor in the cabin. An hour of that could break things loose.

Hi SKing
I thought about that exact same thing when building this. A couple factors the original base plate the batteries are mounted on were only secured with two 2” wood screws so I figured this would be MUCH more robust. The important factor is you need to secure the C collars at at all ends so there’s no movement. I also doubled the C collars to the forward end of the linear slide rail for added security and currently only using one C collar per side to the rear. If one wanted to when the batteries are in the stowed position you could if you wanted extra security use a cedar 2x4 that you lay between the middle of the linear slide rail going fully to the stern inner wall of the lazarette like a brace but I have found I haven’t needed to as it’s overkill. Anyway SKing you had a very valid question as I thought long and hard about this one when making it.
Cheers
Ryan
