Went to Leslie Ann (R21ec, 2013) this a.m. All good and she started immediately. I mean boom, she's running, water pumping, etc. No lights warnings, etc. No sign of anything wrong. Shut it down to wait on guests, 30-45 min. Guests àrrive and tried to start the 3ym30. Nada, no nothing, zip. Up to this point, all systems are A ok. No signs of any touble with batteries. No juice to 12v panel either (no horn) with batt switch on. While ckg all connections on engine the bilge pump goes on. So, do batteries have heart attacks? And just what does that "LED isolator" thing in the engine space do, if there's no juice. Tried charging with the on board charger for 30 min. Tried again and heard small grunt then silence and no juice. So, batteries may be OEM 2013. Have 2 new ones in car and will replace tomorrow. But still curious as to why no current with the isolator. Could both batteries die at the same moment? Any help in explaining this and the entire wiring of the 21ec appreciated. Thx all.

Best idea would be to replace since you have them. If it works i would say one of the two batteries has a short in it which may impact the other.

Good evening. The first thing I’d do is jiggle the throttle handle. Highly unlikely both batteries had heart attacks at the same time. I’ve had the same issue thinking I had dead batteries and all it was was the safety switch preventing a connection. Jiggle it once, twice, thrice then try again. Secondly, in case you do have dead batteries as I’ve had before ( I won’t go into details) get yourself a Nekteck 12 volt jumper. It’s a small item that can be a life saver. I don’t leave home without it.
Cheers,
Karl

Stewart...if batteries were OEM 2013, they are likely due for replacement. If the Yanmar engine panel/tach appears to not have power also you should probably check the thermal breaker in the engine compartment on the back of the battery board....it would have a red button and yellow reset flag that pushes back up into reset pocket.

Than you, you are absolutely correct. This morning replaced OEM BATTS with two new identical. Got it all wired, etc. Went to start the Yanmar and heard... QUIET. Again, nada, nothin', very dead with 2 new Batts. Tinkered and poked, tightened connections and then there was a Red button. Tried everything else so I pushed back it and then reset the yellow flag. Tried starter again. What a Beautiful noise ....a diesel happily pushing cooling water! Thx again. Now, could you recommend anyone to or anyplace I could find a layman's explanation of the boat's electrical system?
I'd like to know what's hot wired, what this thermal breaker is for, the battery isolator, etc. Thx again.
