The order is placed and I'll take delivery of a c302 in late November. We are exciting 😀 to join the Cutwater/Ranger community and hope to find a few others located here. I'll initially put in at Brisbane Marina as my current Marina in Santa Cruz can't give me a larger slip. Fishing is still the primary 'use case', but, we bought this boat to cruise a bit, starting in SF and Monterrey Bays, then, to points South.

Hey Rocky Lou, we boat out of Half Moon bay with our Ranger Tug 27OB. We currently have a slip there and only really fish. We have been as far north as the Duxbury buoy and as far south as pigeon point. We love the boat and plan soon to do a lot more cruising in the future. Just mind the weather and you will be fine. We start our crab season this coming weekend. We look forward to fresh crab this time of year along with some cod fishing mixed in. These boats are great fish platforms that provide great accommodations as well...

Hi Perry and Annie,
Thanks for the comeback. I've fished in the bay area all my life and had a slip at Pillar Point also for several years before moving to Santa Cruz. I like the HMB harbor much better, but, the SC weather can't be beat and you can get out to fish for a few hours in the AM nearly every day of the year. Unfortunately, my 25 foot slip will not accommodate a CW C302 and the waiting list for larger is years. Hence, we'll start in Brisbane and SF Bay likely moving to Moss Landing for salmon season or another harbor, PP or SC, if an opening comes up. BTW, you are probably already familiar with https://coastsidefishingclub.com that started years back in the HMB area.

While I've fished for many years, cruising is new. The one night my wife and I tried to sleep on my Grady White Gulfstream, after an hour, it became a clear 'hell no'. After a lot of looking at Pilothouse boats, the CW stood out as the best of all worlds. I also fish for albacore so need the speed of outboards to outrun weather and get to the fish quickly.

We'll familiarize ourselves with the boat in the protected bay waters before trying an open ocean run of any distance. However, we eventually may aim for Catalina and Channel islands. Feel free to PM me if you plan anything interesting and want to compare notes.

Cheers,
Paul and Teresa (Rocky Lou was a much beloved furry friend)
