We just bought a Dickenson Spitfire 180. Don't know if that's something you have available in Australia. It is essentially the small Sea-B-Que rectangular, but deeper, with a front handle, and made of a heavier quality (18 guage vs. 20, I think). We were very impressed and the substance of it in the store. Plus Dickenson makes all the parts easily available after market, so it seemed like all the more reason to thing we would get a lot of longevity out of it.

Just bought it today so can't report based on actual usage. But internet research looked very positive from a user standpoint.

We have a Magma Catalina with rail mount. The rail mount is sold separately.
I had a smaller model on my previous boat, they wok well even in windy conditions and they also look good.

We have a Magma Kettle 2 Original size. It works well even in windy conditions. The rail mount is purchased separately. we have the "All Angle Round Rail Mount".

Like Brian B we have a Magma but I think ours is the slightly smaller Newport rectangle grille. We bought a rail mount kit and have the grille mounted on the port side rear transom rail. The grille works great in all conditions so far. In trailering our boat I've left the grille mounted and it has never budged.

We have a Magma and use the fish rod holder (easy to remove)and purchased their valve and hose kit so that
We connect it to one of our propane tanks (no small tanks to deal with) works well for us.

Magma Catalina for us as well. Fed right from the profane tank. Works great with the rail mount

We have the Magma Newport attached to the rail at the center of the stern. I have it facing the swim platform so I can stand on it while cooing and it is not in the way while underway and docking. As said in an earlier post, the bracket is a separate purchase.

I mounted my BBQ on the outside of the rail so I have more room on the platform and any drippings go to feed the fish and not on the platform I do not know the make as I inherited it but it is a very small barrel type. 2 small steaks pretty much fill it but works good for us and smaller burner means less fuel ... Not the best if you have a group to feed but I try to avoid feeding groups 🙂
Good luck with your search

A timely thread for me since I'm about to buy a BBQ for my 27. Looking for a relatively small (2 person) size and both the Magma Newport and Dickinson Spitfire look like they would meet my needs. They are similar in size and design - anyone have an opinion of one versus the other?
Pete
