Has anyone purchased custom mattress pads or sheets for a Cutwater 28's front V-berth? If so, where did you purchase them? I know about http://www.qualitycustomlinens.com. They don't have our boat model on file. Too new, perhaps?

Can't help with your question, but I thought I'd let you know you aren't the only C28 on the site. 😉

Doesn't help you much, but we either lay on, or in, lightweight sleeping bags. We also love the great ventilation that the four portlights just above the berths allow.

Would love to see pictures of your Cutwater 28s. Always fun to see them in action.

Take the V-berth pads out and trace them onto giant pieces of paper you tape together. Actually, just do one as it serves in a flipped over fashion as a template for the other pad. Go to any upholstery shop and have pads made as I doubt you can sleep on the stock pads without aching hips; get 1.5 to 2 inch thick foam. Get zippered covered as you may need to wash them eventually.

They will also make you fitted sheets. Not being female (I guess) caused me shock to discover the cost of sheets; i.e., ≥ $50/set. Buy 2 decent king size flat sheets and have one "fitted" to the the foam, and another cut to a v-shaped sheet with some overlap to use as a top sheet. We had 4 made to allow for one to be in the wash while another "set" was on the cushions. They need only fit over the 2" foam you have made to sit on top of the rock-hard stock cushions. If you are under 60, you might tolerate the stock cushions.

It's not age, more the state of your frame that has the most influence IMO. I have nearly 60 years under my belt and have back issues that mean I need a really firm mattress, and the stock cushions are perfect for me; but I know there are others who would require a much more resiliant support underneath them.

There's no universal answer, but I think most who have a back or hip issue would agree that it's worth spending whatever it costs to get both a good nights sleep and a relaxed body in the morning.

Had this forwarded to me this morning by Ronnie G. (thanks Ronnie).

My name is Mary Robinson and I am the marine sales rep for Custom Recreational Specialties. Nikke forwarded me your email, as she is handling other accounts.

The answer to your question is yes, we are still making custom linens and comforters for boats and rv's. In fact, we recently received 26'
and 28' Cutwater Boat templates for sheet sets.

If I can provide you with samples or more information, please let me know.

Thank you,
Mary Robinson
