I just arrived, boat intact, in Gulfport Miss. The boat rode the 1800 plus miles with her usual aplomb, however, some of the more deplorable stretches of I 10 rearranged my internal stowage into a pile of stuff on the floor. We overnighted in a combination of truck stops and rest areas. Now to get ready to splash I have to do some external housekeeping, such as new zincs, wash off the road dirt and such.
My question to other tug owners (mines a 2011 R27) is: Are there any unique concerns/areas to look at as I go back in the water.

Take a short shakedown and test all systems— engine, generator, thrusters, water system, washdown pump, windless, trim tabs, nav lights, chartplotter, autopilot, radar, VHF com radio, TV, stereo, interior lights.

Will you be doing a blog?

Have a safe trip.

Thanks for the input. Some of that has been in use on the road, since I've been using the boat as a camper on the trailer. I do know the beer is still cold in the fridge. The extra and upgraded solar panel on the roof have helped keeping the House battery charged during the day. No blog, using my face book, need to get on the Tug /AGLCA face book page.

Enjoy your trip. I never had any issues with the Cutwater after trailering. When I would get to my destination a quick walk around and launch. All my checks were done in the water.

Thanks Brian. I figured I would open the important hatches and look hard for anything unusual once the boat is in the water, while leaving the trailer attached as a just in case. I'm mainly concerned for hoses and things of that nature that may have vibrated loose. most of I 10 was in pretty decent shape, but certain sections are under construction so the temp route that uses the old shoulder and patched add could be bit rough.

We just finished a 10 hour tow (20 total) to Florida and back for a two week cruise. I think the boat sees more vibration and hard hits on the water. The wind is obviously 2-3x when towing, so these are the things I pay attention to: Hatches, mast, solar panel (rack tightness), etc….

In 2021 we towed our 2012 R27 classic from Everett Washington to Alabama to start our Loop Adventure. Below is a link to a blog posting on an issue we encountered while travelling across the country.

Post Splash, no additional issues presented themselves.

Enjoy!

I believe you have the Yanmar 4BY2 engine. If so, you might want to read this blog posting on an issue I encountered while cruising in British Columbia last summer.

The relay which switches power to the high pressure fuel pump failed. I had an extra relay in my kit so was able to resolve the problem. Subsequently I replaced both the socket and the relay with a higher amperage capacity unit as the failure was heat related. It is likely that the contacts between the two became high resistance (likely from corrosion), got hot, and failed. The replacement parts I found (generic) also had an improved water resistant seal.

Today was splash day. The launch from the trailer went without a hitch. I guess it's better to be lucky than good. engine started right up with no issues. Boats in a slip for the night. Tomorrow will be the day to re install the Bimini, put on the bug screen and clean things for a departure toward the east away from Biloxi.

As a PS, thanks to all for the input. It has helped me to not miss things.
