bilge pump mount

I have a question regarding the bilge pump that others have probably already addressed. Is the white piece of starboard on which the aft pump is mounted glued in? If it is, can it simply be pried out with out destroying the hull interior where it is attached? I am considering fabricating some sort of removable system to ease maintenance down there as the length of my arms seem to be growing shorter every year. I would like some feed back before I try this.

I think it is screwed in. Do you know that the pump cartridge will just come out of the housing with a twist and the sensor just slips off. There is a tab on the side of the pump housing. Just pull it out a bit and turn the housing counterclockwise and it pops out. I actually removed the tab and it makes it easier to get the housing out. The tab is there to make sure it does not turn, but I do no see it as an issue if it is removed.

....not about the mount, but about the requirement for a bilge pump. Every boat, and many, that I have owned, all came equipped with a manual bilge pump as well as, in some cases, an electric pump. The Cdn Safe Boating requirements call for a "bailer or manual bilge pump". So I'm curious why there is no manual bilge pump installed on my 29.

So I see my original question was misunderstood. Is the starboard at the bottom of the bilge glued in? I am not talking about the pump that is screwed to the starboard. I don't see how the starboard could be screwed as it would be screwed into the hull below the water line but just want to make sure.

I am pretty sure it is screwed in with a screw short enough not to go through the hull. At least that is what I have observed on another boat where the starboard became loose. I was pointing out that both the pump and sensor can pop out so I am not sure what other installation will make it easier to service.

,, the requirement for a bailer or manual bilge pump is a mandatory requirement for all vessels below a certain length .. the bailer can be an ice cream bucket .. its not something that a manufacturer is going to supply .. your 10' aluminum cartop is not going to have a manual pump but can still carry a bait bucket or what have you ...

I believe the Starboard is just glued in.
Now the long story....I just worked on my bilge pump the other day. My pump would sometimes just keep running with the crud that would build up on the bilge pump. The crud would trick or stick the automatic switch on the pump. The previous owner(s) of my boat had installed / replaced the factory pump at some point with a "new" pump by just clumsily resting it in the bilge on top of the plastic base for the old pump. the old pump base was simply screwed to the factory glued in StarBoard. I decided to remove the old base from the previous pump so that the "new"pump would sit flatter and properly in the bilge. After really cleaning the bilge in that area, my observation was that the 3/8th or 1/2 in StarBoard was simply glued onto the inside top of the keel just ahead of the bronze through hull drain plug on the port side of the keel. I didn't observe any screws that attached the StarBoard to the hull....just glue. Surprisingly and happily for me, the previous screw mounting holes for the old pump base matched the mounting holes for the new pump base and I could just mount my "new" pump base using the old holes. I modified the plastic snap in mounting / locating tabs on the "new" base so that I could remove the pump more easily for cleaning and service.
My boat is a 2007 R21EC so I am not sure if the same procedure was / is used in the newer boats.
