Greetings fellow Tug-people,
We have a 29' Ranger Classic 2012 model. I need to replace the primary Johnson cartridge bilge pump located in the engine compartment. I see on the West Marine web site that there are three different models, a 1000 gallon per hour pump, a 750 GPH and a 500 GPH . The amperage on all three are different so I want to be sure I'm replacing the old with an identical new. Any idea which of the three versions I should purchase? (I looked closely at the one that's currently installed and couldn't find a model # anywhere.)
Thanks for the help.
Phil

Are you the original owner?

If not, I would not assume that the pump is original and that the last owner did not replace it with something different than manufacturers spec.

Bilge pumps seem to have a lifespan of 3-8 years (I've found this true on every boat I've owned), so if you've only had the boat for a little while the pump has quite probably been replaced once already. And if you are the original owner and haven't replaced it yet, it's about time 🙂

I had the aft bilge pump replaced recently, the one under the prop shaft. It was the 1100 model.

I replaced the bilge pump on my C-28 last year. I used the Johnson 1000 gallon model. Drop in replacement. I don't think you can go much higher than that without increasing the diameter of the outlet hose.

I am trying to replace the aft bilge pump cartridge in our 2012 C26, I have the old one out of the housing below the prop shaft but I can’t get it past the prop shaft. Any ideas? I don’t want to pull the engine to replace the bilge pump.
Thanks

Hi there. I know your post is several years old, but what did you end up doing? Just bought a 2014 C26 and have the same issue. I am looking at making a pretty expensive replacement with a lift-style pump because we can’t get the old one out.
