The bulge on my R21 is blown. I have one of the new models that runs every 30 seconds (can’t remember the brand) to install....
What I’m wondering is what the black box is above the pump itself on the old system? Brown wires from it to the bulge......Seems I have to wire into that - but what if it had been damaged by water?

Is this not suppose to be waterproof? I would call Port boat house in Port Alberny and and ask them directly just to make sure. Especially if your boat is in the water...

On mine the black box high up in the bilge is the high water sensor for the alarm.

We have a 2016 R21EC. Our bilge pump is a SPXflow Ultimate Combo with motionless electronic sensors that activate the pump. There are two “black boxes”. One attached to the side of the bilge pump itself. One up higher on the side of the bilge. The one on the pump has two circular sensors (one above the other) you can feel that when both are covered with water (or your fingers) turn on the bilge. Power is feed to the bilge pump directly from the battery (you will see it attached to the battery with it’s own inline fuse). The second sensor higher up is also SPX and gets it’s power from the cabin and is tied into the high water “buzzer”. This is the switch you can use to test the high water alarm buzzer, silence, or leave activated. My bilge pump is designed with the ability to replace the pump as a cartridge into the housing. You do need to disconnect and reconnect the two wires going into the pump with water right crimp/heat shrink connectors if you change it out. Hope this s of help!
