Volvo replaced my D130F Penta (emissioms recall) 16 hours on new engine..low pressure alarm sounds & displays oil sign. Installed oil pressure gague.. Oil pressure steady at 55lbs. What sensor may be failing or any thoughts?

Not as familiar with the volvo as the Yanmar, but did you check the oil sensor unit? Usually they will have specific Ohm readings at various RPM's. Also, being a new engine I would think this issue would be covered under warranty.

Thanks for responding, no new warranty on replacement engine. Will have to get someone to do the ohm check.
U are referring to the small sender I connected the gauge to w/a T.

I'm not sure if the D1 has a low oil sensor. The D3 has one so I would assume D1 does. If the oil pressure is reading 55 psi then it would lead me to the oil level sensor being the culprit. I use the parts schematics Google Volvo parts on line to locate components. It is actually Iboats website.

Thanks once more Mates ⚓️ Now to proceed with your suggestions. Will report back when
we return next Monday from NYC.
Note: very well not the Black Box on the Port side of the engine

Checked R21 manuals no alarm shown for low oil
Level, only low oil pressure

Hello Sharol,

It sounds like a faulty oil pressure monitor, or possibly even a loose connection on the sensor. The sensor/connector is directly forward of the oil filter, mounted on the STBD side of the engine.

Feel free to send me an email directly to the address listed below with any further questions.

Thank you,

-Tim
