Black Rub-Rail Discoloration

This probably applies to all models, but I notice with our 2009 R-21EC that the black vinyl rub-rail is beginning to show a mottled white discoloration. "Kamalani" is kept in salt water and washed regularly. I have tried applying 303 protectant with no result. (Much shinier, but the blotches remain.) Any thoughts as to what may remove this discoloration, and actually prevent it? (If no one else is experiencing this problem, I may have to look to the product that I use to wash the red gel coat.)

We have the same discoloration, despite the use of protectant. We also keep our boat in saltwater and wash it down routinely.

FRom my experience this is a common problem with rubber-based products that get exposed to weather. It is seen quite regularly on plastic/rubber exterior moldings on autos -- especially surrounding windows and along window sills. I actually noticed this after a few months of buying our 2003 Volvo. I mentioned it to the dealership and they told me it's normal 🙁 and there really nothing that can be done about it. 🙁
