Steering has shown creep on occasion, so I'm going to start by bleeding the system. The book says to start with the ram. Great. I notice the lines that feed the ram are mounted on the side, not on top. Those are the bleeder points. It seems the ram was mounted incorrectly. The bleeders should be on the top.

The way this is now, the ram would need to be freed so it can be rotated to be properly bled.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

My local boat dealer had one of the Power Purge units for bleeding the steering. 5 to 10 minutes and the whole system is done.

you might find a mighty vac (metal body unit) handy for working on your hydraulic systems if you need to change all of the fluid . mechanics use them for automotive broke hydraulic lines.
