I am installing a Boat Command GPS Tracker and Monitor on my 2012 Cutwater 28 this weekend. The device allows you to monitor a variety of things, bilge pumps, batteries, etc. and receive a text when issues arise.
The primary reason I am installing the device is to monitor the shore power so I can ensure my batteries do not die after a few days of running the refrigerator without shore power. The shore power at my marina is cantankerous.
The best place to install the device appears to be in the "wiring closet" below the electrical panel in the cave. The device will connect directly to the house battery switch to monitor the house battery and to power itself.
In order to monitor the shore power, the device has an adapter that connects to either a 110v plug or is wired directly into a 110v circuit. The closest 110v plug is either on the other side of the boat or in the head, neither of which I want to use as the run is way too long.
I am assuming there is a 110v wiring running through the wiring closet. Is this correct? If so, how do I identify the wiring so I can wire the Boat Command into the wiring?
Thanks!
