Good day all,

I am wondering if anyone that own a 21 EC has bought a boat cover in a store for their tug? I am looking for a boat cover that will be left on my boat in the parking lot at home to prevent dust and leaves to get the tug dirty. I looked it up on the net, lots of tarp dimension... There must be someone that has bought a specific cover that fit nice on a 21 EC. I am looking for something that will not damage the finish when the cover flap in the wind and waterproof too...

You are my last hope before l get one done custom made by a shop.

thanks

Patrick

I, too, was never able to find a fitted, or even semi-fitted, storage cover, so I had a local custom shop make one out of Sunbrella that covers the swim platform (with rails) and extends to the waterline stripe all around to protect the red hull. I had it fitted with the mast removed. $1900 and worth every dollar.

CN,

You removed the mast completely, do you put it back up when cruising? I am kind of hoping to keep the mast in the folded position with the cover, but wonder if shaffing would occur...?

Just this last weekend I covered our R21-EC with a new Sunbrella cover made by King Marine Canvas. The cover is made in two sections with 2 zippers in the middle which meet just after the cabin. The two sections make the cover easier to put on the boat than a 1 section cover. Also, the zippers allow easy access to the cockpit. The cover was made with extra reinforcement in areas contacting the boat. I still need to get a few more bungee cords to properly attach the cover to the trailer. King Marine Canvas did an excellent job on the cover. I added a picture to our photo album.
Good luck with your search.

Bob, first of all, congrat on buying your tug 😀

this is a great Idea to have a zipper in the middle. Does this fit well over your mast in the folded position? I guess so by looking at the picture. would you mind telling me how much this version cost to get done?

I remove the mast when the boat is covered/stored; provides a simpler/cleaner look (matters to me 😉 ). I do re-install when using the boat.

Two killicks,
The cover fits well over the folded mast and has added reinforcing material added at the contact areas. I can give you contact information regarding King Marine if you want to send me a PM.

Thanks, with the current US/Can exchange rate, I am going to postpone any order from the US for a while, but I'll keep that in mind...

Hello Bob,

Is your new cover supposed to go over the bimini? That is, is the bimini 'deployed' when the whole-boat cover goes on?

Nice looking cover by the way!

Dave,

His picture shows the cover on with the bimini stored (folded forward).

We have a cover from Fisher Canvas in NJ.
I am sure there are others, such as King Canvas that are closer to you but check out Fisher's site.
http://www.fishercanvas.com
I liked the design of Fisher and know they are familiar with snow loads and New England winters.
It has a built in ridge pole pocket (you add your own 2x4's), door and ventalation, etc.
It is great to be able to open the "door" and work on the boat in the winter.
We used to use a doubled "Blue Tarp" but wanted more protection.
This is our 5th year with the cover and are still pleased.
It is heavy weight canvas and is quit a hand full to put on.
There are some pictures in our photo album.

Dave,
Jay is correct, the full enclosure is removed when using the boat cover as recommended by Dave at King Marine Canvas in order to prevent chafing. I added another photo to show the boat cover partially open.

I really like this zipper in the middle!
