Curious what folks have been installing lately for a remote boat monitoring system... I saw a post from back in 2014, but figured the community might have more to say since then.

I have a R25 and would like to add something that keeps track location, bilge, etc. I've seen a number of systems on the market: Siren Marine, Boat Command, Boat Guard, MyBoatStatus,Yachtwatchman, etc. Would love to hear anything positive or negative you want to share!

I have been using boatcommand and very pleased with it

I have been using Siren Marine for several years. I had the original Pixie and upgraded to the new MTC last year because they had a great offer (half price) for current users. The MTC is great, the mobile app is easy to use. You can get alerts via the app, email, and text messages. It also has outputs you can control remotely but I do not use this feature, I use bilge pump monitor, high bilge alarm, battery voltage, shore power status, and boat movement. The bilge pump monitor is nice, you can configure alerts for excessive run time and too short an interval between runs. This will alert you to a slowly developing problem before an excessive run or high bilge alert occurs.
You can add temp sensor, door open alarms, etc.
I will get another MTC to install on the Nordic Tug we recently purchased.

I installed Boat Command for the 2017 season. Worked perfectly all season. Easy install. Similar features as the Siren Marine products but lower total cost of ownership after running the math.

if you are game and reasonably eletronic/computer DIY centric than a raspberry pi solution is possible. the marine raspberry pi group on facebook is useful. It also opens up the boat to a bunch of other possibilities if you get a NMEA to signalK gateway connected to the PI.
