Boaters Guide is a new app, just published, to encourage boaters to use their boats more often.

It’s an intuitive presentation of over 60 marinas in the Salish Sea offering fuel, overnight moorage, pumpout and local services. Provides summary info for each marina and includes a comprehensive Buyer’s Guide.

Fundamentally a community service, it is a free download with no registration requirements. Supported by sponsors in the Buyer’s Guide and Local marina services.

Download the app in the Apple App store or Google Play store, just search for Boaters Guide

Find your happy place!

Bumping post delayed in moderation queue.

It is worth noting that the app developer and the OP share a last name.

I for one would appreciate the transparency of an acknowledgment of any personal tie to or potential conflict of interest in this post! If the last name is a coincidence, that should be noted too.

Does seem like a cool app, but OP failure to disclose really cuts into the credibility of your post.

I just installed the app and checked it out. Looks like a decent marina guide for Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands but it doesn’t cover the Salish Sea north of the border. When I centre on my location it puts me in Point Roberts.I guess the locator doesn’t cross the border either. It’s advertising supported for sure but so is every other source of information unless it’s government provided (through taxes).

Morning Tug Nuts,

Yes, the poster and the author of the app are the same. Me. The app is a passion project for me. I needed an easy way to quickly check marina services. Plus get the UHF Channel and Marina map, as we pull into the marina. Couldn't find anything, so I built my own.

I wanted to make it free, without any registration, to lower the barrier to obtaining this info and make it a boating community service. Asking for sponsors to pay for the expenses. Just like Tugnuts.

We are going to add BC later this year. Need to get off the ground first.

Patrick

PS: The location is a little flakey right now. We are getting a big upgrade in a few weeks that should fix it. But you can still use to check out the marinas on US side of the Salish Sea.

For me a toss-up between BC Marinas and WA Marine State parks.

Tides have lots of existing free specialty apps and are more easily accessible in the plotter, so maybe further down the line?

Boaters Guide App Update:

As requested by overwhelming demand.....

- Added a tides button to every marina (except Lk Wash of course).
-- This will show tides local to the marina from TidesPro.com
- Also made a button for Marina maps
-- Shows available maps for each marina

Next up: Canadian Gulf Islands marinas.... Then look for our Boaters Guide Treasure Hunt!

Just close and relaunch the app to get the latest release.

All the best,
Patrick

PS: If you haven't downloaded yet, just go to the Apple or Google app stores. Look for Boaters Guide
We have over 1,400 downloads so far. Great response! It's free with no registration required.

Thanks Patrick!

I was playing with your app last weekend and really enjoy how it presents marina info including videos. You’ve done a really good job.

Just added the first 3 Canadian Marinas to the app. Salt Spring Marina, Ganges and Poet Cove.
Just happen to be the location of the June Ranger Tug Rendezvous.

We are up to 1,750 downloads now.. Tell your friends to find their happy place on the Boaters Guide app!

Patrick
