Bottom paint makes a difference!

Was getting 1.5nmpg at cruise at 3090 rpm’s. Now getting close to 2.0 at 3050 rpm.

Almost 2 knots faster!

How dirty was the bottom of your boat?iv been putting off painting mine it’s clean but the bottom pain is pretty worn.

im not sure how to quantify. diver has been saying for a year its getting thin. there was short growth at the waterline. and the overall hull was dark from the growth but it wasn't long.

the diver could clean it and performance would stay the same. here are photos from the last dive and then the haul out

Clearly the diver clean was not the same impact...not blaming the diver...it is what it is. Very informative post. Glad I keep my boat on a lift!

Our boat is in fresh water more than salt and this is quite a benefit relative to the life of our bottom paint!

to add, i dont like the diver scrubbing the hull too much as the paint is an ablative and I think scrubbing takes off too much paint compared with the intended purpose of water washing it off at speed as designed.

I just got a 20% boost from cleaning, however, my bottom paint is in good shape.
