In Long Island there are no finger piers so if you have the Dinghy Lift one has only one option to pull into your own slip or visit a marina in my area and that is bow first. Since the rail on the Ranger Tug 25 OB is very high it is difficult to get on board. I modified the bow rail by placing a support across the bottom (10 inches from deck) of the port and starboard rails. I cut the top leaving about 5 inches for a hand hold. Then connected the hand holder section to the Bottom support rail for support. I added some non slip pads to the deck. No welding was needed as I used hinged jaw slides and hinged T connectors. I think a better design could be offered to customers when they order the boat. Maybe offer the Cutwater type bow rail or the ones used on the RT 29 as an option. The Hinged jaw slided (2), pipe (6 ft) and eye ends (2) from sailrite.com, The hinged T connectors (4) from amazon.
