Where in the wiring harness of the bow thruster? Do the upper helm, lower helm and remote controller connect? I'm working on a hunch that something came disconnected.

I just went through troubleshooting my bow thruster, which had quit unexpectedly a several weeks ago. You can check my posting: Bad Bow Thruster Power Cable on 2009 R25.

The problem was rats chewing the insulation off the power cable, then the cable corroded as it sat in bilge water that was not draining. It's unlikely to be your problem.

If you have the documentation for the thrusters, it'll have the wiring diagram. You can probably find it online.

Some trouble shooting:
#1. Does the solinoid kick off? If so, maybe not enough power getting to the thruster. If not, no power, or solinoid or switch.
#2. Establish that you have power to the thruster at the thruster. If not check fuse.
#3. If not fuse, connect serveral automobile jumper cables together and connect the bow thruster direct from the battery. If thruster works, it's the power cable. Replace. If not, it's either the solinoid or the switch.

Also, check that your windlass works. It's on the same power/fused cable.

Good luck!

I have jumped from the negative terminal to the solenoid and the truster will run in both directions.

“Sleipner Bow and Stern Thruster Troubleshooting Guide”

From the results choose the YouTube video by Imtra’s Steve Howd

There you will find very clear information. From this guide I found that the thermal switch on my bow thruster had failed open. Once I connected a jumper from the motor ground terminal to the brown lead going to the control box, the thruster operated as it should.

We had the same issue and the same problem (the thermal switch). $70 for that little wire! But it solved the problem.

It was the thermal switch. Remove and replace now working . Thank you all,
