Hey folks, I have a Cutwater 28, and there's a box underneath the reversible transom seat (in the cockpit - not the box on the transom). Is this meant to be a fish box? Are those drains at the bottom? I checked in the manual, doesn't seem to be any mention of it.

There are drains at the bottom of the box that drain into the bilge. I think one will drain on top of the trim pump.

This is what is under the box. The C28 doesn't have the waste tank there. This is the location of the generator. The rest of the bilge looks the same.

Thanks Brian. I'll take some pics and post them - there appears to be one small drain right in the middle. I'm also going get underneath and figure out where that drain goes.

I'm interested is possibly using this for a fish box, would save a LOT of space in the cockpit. Currently, I have a big coleman cooler right in the middle of the cockpit, up against the transom seat. I think if I have a routine of thoroughly bleeding / cleaning the fish before they go in the box, I can minimize any fish parts going down that drain.

For about $100 bucks you could install a mecerator pump to the drain and have a nice fish box! The problem with bleeding and cleaning fish prior to putting in the box is that usually the bite is on and no time if you want to get the next one! Bob

the previous owner of my C28 added the additional pumps and pipes for the fish box but it wasnt connected. I store emergecy life vests under the seat instead 😀

here are some photos of the pumps.
