I was wiring in a transom anode to the bonding bus bar. As I threaded wire inside the transom seat, I noticed that the large unsheathed copper strap fastened to the rudder was looking pretty gnarly and may be in need of replacement. I'm curious, why those straps are not protected with a sheath of some sort? Also, I read that they are often used in applications requiring a lot of flexibility / movement, but it doesn't appear that it moves much if at all. Could normal heavy gauge marine wire be used in its place? Gary

Yes you can I installed 8gauge green marine wire to the tiller arm. This is what Fluid motion is now using. The reason I installed new wire is the fluid motion install used a short wire that did not allow enough movement and it pulled the wire out of the connector.

Thanks BB. Good to know and just seems simpler and more consistent overall. G
