2015 R25sc with 2 axle trailer with Carlisle brake controller. 2008 2500 GMC with aftermarket brake interface. When the lights are plugged into the truck, the brake controller buzzes...all the time, and regardless of the truck running. The brakes seem to work OK, and the fluid reservoir is full. the buzzing was pointed out to me by my first mate. Given my poor hearing, I cannot really hear it but can feel the buzzing if I put my fingers on the controller. It may have been going on for some time.

There are no fluid leaks.

Is this normal or something to be concerned about?

THANKS

THANKS....I won't worry about it. I have been a member of this forum for a long time, and it never lets me down!!

Are you talking about the brake actuator on the trailer by any chance?

I had that happen on my 2014 EZ loader trailer last year. As soon as I plugged in the trailer, it started buzzing. Apparently there is a valve on the inside that can fail. When that happens the little hydraulic pump keeps running. There is no repair for it according to Hydrastar. By the way the unit gets really hot after a while.

I was able to get direct line number for Hydrastar from a trailer repair place and surprisingly was able to talk to a tech rep without going through the Carlisle phone tree. A replacement wasn't cheap...$830...but they shipped it to me next day so that my trip could continue. Sorry I don't have the number, but maybe EZ loader or your trailer manufacturer can get it for you.

The replacement was pretty straight forward...four wires and one hydraulic line. Here's the link to the manual: https://hydrastarusa.com/wp-content/upl ... nual_2.pdf

I called the Hydrastar folks 812-655-4544. Nice people and very helpful. Ordered an actuator. Should be here in 2 days.

Getting the Standard Hydrastar Actuator, 1600 psi (for disc brakes). Tech said I do not need the marine unit as I am exclusively in fresh water, not salt water.

Chris, THANKS for the help.
