I'm considering the purchase of a 2003 R21 from a friendly private party. We don't know what the price should be. It is the R21, not the EC. Has 3GM30F. I don't know the hours. No marine head, no stove, no refrigerator, no trailer. Just the R21. Do any of you who have sold/purchased recently have some estimate ranges to share. Nadaguides lists about $12k?

Sometimes the Bank can help with this. However, with the age of that R-21 the price will be whatever the market bears. If I were you I'd wait to hear from the seller as to what price they want and then you can consider any negotiation as necessary. It comes down to what you're willing to pay.

A new R-21EC today with no options would be priced at around $50K. Boats typical take a 15% to 20% hit in depreciation in the first year, and then tapers off. I suspect the 2003 R-21 when new would have been priced below $20K some where.

I would start with a $6K offer.

.. my experience when looking for an AFFORDABLE R21 Classic, was that like most things, you were paying for what you got. I looked into an older boat with the wooden window frames for $17,000 (Canadian) that need a lot of tlc and had a lot of hours .. it was likely worth $12,000 at the most .. if you get into the years that have the newer window seals and under a 1000 hours, and maybe has a trailer, but otherwise as it came from the factory, maybe $20,000+ (Canadian) up to $25-26,000 all depending how its equipped .. general condition and low hours on a 3ym Yanmar seem to be the determining factor.. just my .02 .. I just sold a 2001 R21, with the teak window trim and a factory rebuilt yanmar with about 130 hours. it was on a good King trailer with new tires. I asked for $18,500 and had a few lookers. I sold it for $17,500. The boat was in very good condition, with the mast and boom and 2 awnings.

This is in Maine.

I bought a 2008 R21EC, without trailer for $26k
