Just poking around for a place next winter in Florida (I know, this winter is barley over....) . Does anyone have any experience or information on Burnt Store Marina in Punta Gorda FL. It's in the Ft. Myers, Sarasota, Cape Coral area.

Live aboard for 2+ months is the plan

Most web sites can make make any place look like the Garden of Eden, just looking for peoples actual experiences. Positive or negative. A couple of pics look like some Rtugs docked so I thought I'd reach out.

Have negative info and don't want to post it publicly? PM me, I won't share comment.....promise..

The ice is out in Wisconsin!!! Another month and TJsMate should be in the water...

We were at the 2018 SW Florida Rendezvous and had a great time. We have also docked at Fishermen's Village in Punta Gorda and had a good time. And, we have cruised all up and down the SW coast of Florida, which is hard to beat.

Great info Dale777! This could be an good option. Any other suggestions are appreciated.!

Burnt Store was okay but very much out of the action in Punta Gorda. We spent a few months at Laishley Marina with floating docks, access to beautiful parks on the bay, walking distance to many restaurants, some fabulous and the best ice cream parlor around. Very attentive Dockmaster and immaculate bathrooms too.

Burnt Store is a nice place. They have a restruant, bar and pool but as someone said you have to go a ways to get anywhere...by land. Another option is Legacy Marina in downtown Ft MYERS. Great people who run the place, pool, free pump outs and you are within walking distance to all of downtowns weekly festivals, car shows, motor cycle shows, music and restaurants. They have s lot across the street for storage of your trailer for a reasonable fee.

If it matters there is no trailer storage at Burnt Store. You will have to pay for storage at a local storage yard. They do have a launch ramp, they also have a nice pool.
Another option about 15 nm N is Aquamarina in Cape Haze, this Marina is a lot smaller than Burnt Store. They will offload the boat with a forklift for $75.00 or there is a ramp a few miles away. You can store the trailer on the property for free, stores are close by. Nice pool, clean restrooms, restaurant on site.
PInk Shell Resort Marina in Ft Myers is upscale, very nice. With the dockage you get use of all resort amenities. No ramp or storage available.
You should also consider cruising the West coast down to the Keys, beautiful cruising waters.

TugSully,

As trawlertrailerkismet stated, Legacy Harbor Marina, only a couple of blocks from downtown Fort Myers, is a great place to stay. Although I have a condo on a canal next to Fort Myers Beach, I have docked at Legacy Harbor Marina a couple of times on my way up the Caloosahatchee River. We have really enjoyed it there. And, they have floating docks which are much preferable to fixed docks that many marinas have in Florida.

Is there a good publication or source for marina information in the Port Charlotte to Naples area?

Some nice marinas recommended so far. Really appreciate it!

Waterway Guide has many great cruising guides, including the area you are looking for.
