New kid on the block! Loosing my beautiful wife to the world of dementia. We have a five month old Sea Hunt Ultra SE with only 20 hours on it. I realized that the openness of the center console is overwhelming for her. She is comfortable boating, a favorite pastime of ours. I came across the Cutwater 242 Coupe and think it might work for us with the enclosed cabin. I am open to any suggestions and inputs that you may have. It is the Caribbean Sand color with white boot stripe...what color should I have the bottom painted? Looking forward to being part of the Tugnut community and I am sure I will have lots of questions! All our best, Skip and Karen

Skip/Karen,
Congrats! Newbie lurker here as well. I am picking up an open bulkhead C-242 here shortly from Seattle, hopefully it'll be a good fit for my family as well.
If the boat is on order make sure you get the options you want, as post-factory the dealership will not be as cheap as the factory process.

I wanted AC (Shorepower)/Radar/Searchlight, but the boat I bought didnt have them and based on pricing it'll be cheaper if I do the work myself.

Hey Sam, great to here I am not alone as a Cutwater Newbie to be. When you say open bulkhead are you referring to the new sport coupe with the soft enclosures. I really like the openness of it. A true ‘sport’ boat with all the amenities! Let’s stay in touch on this journey. Best, Skip

Skip,
Yeah, its the soft enclosure. It should be a great fit out here in the Midwest. Our summers are quite a bit hotter than the PNW, where I purchased it. I have a feeling the boat didn't sell in the PNW because of the open back and no heat. But its perfect for where I'll be.

One day in the near future, I'll end up coming out to the IntraCoastal where you folks are at. Hopefully, we can have a Cutwater outing!

Sam, If you cruise up the westside of Lake Michigan to Racine Wis. Very nice cruise from Chicago. Stop in to Reef point Marina. It is a great place to visit ,nice docks, wash rooms and showers clean, hot tub and swimming pool, several locations with grills for use and easy walk to town with many good restaurants. Docktails usually around 5 on our dock. There were a couple of Tugs there last season but we are the only Cut. Stop by if cruising up the lake.

Thanks Brian.
I don't know where Ill be slipping my boat, but I am leaning towards Kenosha. Although Racine does look nice.
My goal this summer is to take the boat to Mackinac Island starting from Chicago and working my way up the Eastern shores of the Lake.

Hopefully, I can meet some fellow Lake Michgan CW/Tug owners and try to put together a caravan.

Counting the days until delivery...dealer received parts to complete the soft start AC today. Will begin work on it on Monday and also repair the damaged gel coat which they tell me is only the size of a dime. See picture attached an let me know if it is something I should be concerned about. As I said before buying it sight unseen since I can’t leave my wife with dementia for the 12 hour round trip to view it. Bottom paint color? Has Caribbean Sand hull with white boot stripe. Thx
PS I can’t figure out how to post a picture like in other forums?

You can post pics two ways. You can use the Img button/ tag (above the posting box) if the picture is available on a publicly accessible internet host (i.e. iCloud, DropBox, Flickr, etc.) Click the tag then copy and paste the URL of the image and paste it in. If you have a photo album on Tugnuts you use the g2Img button. Clicking it launches a pop up window which allows you to browse to your album, select a picture, and submit it to the post. Be patient - it can take a minute or so for the window to populate.

Getting a User Photo Album is easy but it requires submitting a request from within the site structure.

1. Sign on to the site.

2. Select the User Control Panel link from the upper left corner of any page. Note: On the home page, this link is in your user menu in the upper right.

3. Click the Usergroups tab, then select the radio button next to the User Albums group.
Scroll down, choose "Join selected" in the drop-down menu, and click the Submit button.

Once you do this, an email is automatically sent to the administrator (me). That message will trigger my ability to approve your request, and you'll receive an email indicating your membership in the User Albums group has been activated.

I'll watch for the message, and look forward to seeing your pictures.

Cheers,

Bruce
