We are in the process of purchasing an 2016 R 25 named Muirgen at WIYY in Salem MA. We are doing survey/ sea trial on Wednesday. She has a hailing port of Georgetown ME, however she has been kept in either Newburyport or Marblehead also. Looking for anyone who may be familiar with this boat, good or bad (pm me if you do not want to reply in public). She looks like a good boat, just want to cross the T’s and dot the I’s .

Thanks

Hi Bob:

I do not know the boat. I cruise to Marblehead frequently and have never seen it.

However, I purchased a new 2011 R-27 from WIYY and they will sell you a good product, with excellent service.

I just purchased a 2008 R25 1 year ago. Your 2016 should have no issues but ours had rain leaks due to the rub rails not being properly sealed. Took em off an resealed both sides. Also the mast hinges were broke so I'm getting a welder to fix.
We took the boat 700 miles along the ICW from Norfolk Va. to Hilton Head Island SC. No issues at all. Cruised about 8 knots
and the boat did well even in heavy seas in Charleston harbor. Engine is a yanmar diesel 110 hp. Great on fuel.
Yours probably comes with hatch screens but they do not keep out the small gnats so upgrade to gnat screens. Top speed I got out the boat was 13knots in calm conditions. Probably could get above 15 if I had the bigger engine.
Check you anchor locker and make sure it drains. The drain tends to clog up with leaves and such but a good strong spray from a hose usually can clear it out. I also upgraded the anchor to one size larger. (peace of mind). Check the stern cockpit drains. The rubber flap on the two stern drains gets stiff.
All systems like the Refridge, AC, thrusters, windless, stove, TV, radar were working fine even after 12 years. (crossing my fingers). One more thing. Check the head shower sump. The small pump can get clogged and not drain any shower water.
Had to replace mine.
Have fun

Barry,

Thanks for the response. I am very pleased with the people at WIYY and glad to here of your experience with them. I am on the South Shore and do not know Marblehead from Nahant. The hailing port is Georgetown Maine. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Regards

Peter and Wagner along with Diane and Rosemary are wonderful, honest and caring. We bought our2018 R-23 from a private seller, (originally sold by Winter Island YY) and they have treated me as if I purchased direct from them. Because of that we purchased our tandem Float On trailer from them, a two hour car ride from our home port. In short, you can trust them.
