I fired up the inverter the other day for the first time since I bought the boat, and noticed two things….the voltage at the panel showed it was receiving just 80 volts, and the two GFI outlets on the boat were buzzing pretty loudly.
I searched Tugnuts for this topic and couldn’t find anything so I e mailed Andrew. He promptly let me know that the inverter increases voltage to the proper level when under load. (ie; when something is turned on) and the outlets do buzz but will quiet down when a load is applied. He was of course right on both counts.
If this phenomenon was explained at delivery I missed it….and since there seemed to be nothing about this on Tugnuts I thought I’d put it up for the next person.
