We just closed on our C-26 - and I'm trying to figure a few things out... One puzzle is the double keyhole (in other words a circle with a short keyslot on each side - (sort of saturn shape) that is towards the cabin on the toerail on either side of the cockpit.

Anyone know what it is for?

I have a photo but haven't figured out how to link photos in the blog yet...

on my R25 its the mount for the ladder to reach up and over the cabin roof

that cutout is for a downrigger weight ball for trolling - such as salmon.

So...

If its for a ladder, I don't understand how the ladder would work... and if it's for a weight ball - that seems like a lot of specialization for relatively few folks who troll for Salmon...

Photos of either the ladder or how its used for fishing would be appreciated! Or another answer!!!

Thanks!

When we took delivery of our 26 Cutwater I was told it is for a down rigger ball weight. It is something that I removed to allow room for the leg of my deck chair. With it removed I can have a deck chair set up on each side of the aft seat

it is specialized but lots of folks troll for salmon hence they offer mounting pads for trolling units direct from the factory on cutwaters. the ball is heavy and would roll on peoples feet if there was no place to put it.
