Today when I went down to the boat (stowed on a lift), I heard a "screeching" sound. A small audible alarm device attached to the fuse panel behind the mirror in the head was the source. The alarm device has two wires, a white and a black that are connected to a red and blue wire (very small gauge) that go into a conduit labeled "Compass". I can turn the alarm off by turning the House switch off or by removing a 3A fuse on Dash Fuse Block #2 labeled "Network (optional)".

Any suggestions before I begin trying to trace the Compass conduit. It goes back behind the helm and then disappears.

That's the autopilot alarm. The buzzer is connected to your CCU, or "Compass Ball". As to why it's going off, that I don't know. The only alarm reference I could find in the Garmin GHC 20 manual is a low voltage alarm. How are your batteries?

Thanks Brunski,

You are correct - low battery voltage and self inflicted as I forgot to turn the battery charger breaker back on after doing some AC work on the boat.

A little strange as the DC battery voltmeter on the panel showed 13.7v in all three positions ..............?

Thanks. bails023
