We are anticipating delivery of our C-28 in a few weeks and want to install an induction cooktop in the galley. (Per our request there will be no cooktop installed.) My question is what amperage circuit typically supplies power to the factory supplied cooktop? 15 amp or 20 amp?

My C26 2016 has the electric cook top with 2 burners. The factory installed supply breaker for stove is rated at 25 amps. I believe a single burner draws 1200W.

Brian is right. I confirmed that the hard way. My boat was built with a 15 amp breaker, it tripped every time I turned on the second burner. This is with the Princess stove top FM spec'd.

With input from technical support I replaced it with a 25 amp breaker and all is well. Fortunately the wiring was of sufficient gauge.

Since you are installing your own cook top you might want to check the spec's on it, but I doubt it would draw more than 25 amps. 2400 watts would be around 20 amps.

You want to be aware of the power budget for the boat. You can't run both burners full tilt and oven too for example. It is a 30 amp boat.

On the generator you can probably run only one burner at a time at full power, since the generator puts out about 15 amps, more or less.

Thanks for your responses. I anticipated a 15 amp circuit but am heartened to hear that the wire gauge is sufficient to upgrade. I will verify first. Thanks again.
