Hi,
I just got my 2021 C24. Love it, but a Few questions:

1 - Do you really have to climb under the mid cabin seat to adjust the A/C? The manual shows a remote control. Should this come with the boat?

2 - It seems that there is only one return on the port side mid cabin? Nothing in the bow for sleeping?

3 - The helm has a “Heater” button, which controls the vents on the Starboard side at the helm, BUT it doesn’t blow hot or cold. Should this button say “Vent”?

4 - They say... you can run the AC on the inverter, but a beeping alarm starts almost immediately on a fully charged new battery system. Can you disable the alarm? How long should it run for?

5 - The manual shows “solar” option. But I was told it is no longer an option. Is there an after market kit that can be added to help out with the inverter AC issue?

Thank you!

Hello,

See my responses below:
1 - Do you really have to climb under the mid cabin seat to adjust the A/C? The manual shows a remote control. Should this come with the boat? The units that come with that boat do not come with a remote, however it looks like you can purchase these and should work. https://citimarinestore.com/en/webasto- ... units.html

2 - It seems that there is only one return on the port side mid cabin? Nothing in the bow for sleeping? There is the main big one in the cabin of the boat port side and there is a smaller 4" just on the other side of the bulkhead for the vberth. Just behind the sink under the shelf in the nook

3 - The helm has a “Heater” button, which controls the vents on the Starboard side at the helm, BUT it doesn’t blow hot or cold. Should this button say “Vent”? These switch panels are made from an outside source and we are unable to change the labels.

4 - They say... you can run the AC on the inverter, but a beeping alarm starts almost immediately on a fully charged new battery system. Can you disable the alarm? How long should it run for? You can run the AC on the inverter but you must have the engine running due to the draw that comes from the AC unit itself. Typically higher speeds/RPM's the better performance you will get with the AC running and not discharging the batteries

5 - The manual shows “solar” option. But I was told it is no longer an option. Is there an after market kit that can be added to help out with the inverter AC issue? There are many kits out there and depending on what you are using the solar for you can build a kit that will fit your needs, here is a link to the company we purchase our solar products from, we use a 160W panel when the C24 coupe had the option https://www.custommarineproducts.com/st ... anels.html

Hope this helps!!

Very helpful. Thank you!

Well, this is depressing......put a deposit on a C24 yesterday....and bit the bullet because it had the AC/inverter option, which I thought included the solar. I was under the impression was had "on the hook" capability here....this was huge in biting the bullet for the price tag that included the AC/inverter option. So question....on shore power, does the AC work?

The AC should work fine on shore power.

The A/C pulls about 90 amps. Best thing would be to buy a suitcase generator (we have a Honda 2200) and you can run A/C or cooktop or water heater, etc….

My first season with a 2020 R23 and some things I have learned so far:

1. Bought the remote for the A/C, works great. Paid around $40 from a small outfit online in FL. Even works from the V-Berth.
2. The A/C vent in the V-Berth is in an odd spot. As long as you have nothing blocking it, the airflow is pretty good down there.

3. On the R23, my helm button is labeled "Fan". Just blows ambient air. Sometimes I turn it on thinking it may cool down the electronics on a hot day.

4. Run my AC only when the engine is running or on shore power. Usually, will get the cabin cooled off on shore power and then run it for 20 min increments en-route if it gets real hot.

5. I installed solar myself. It was fairly easy and their is enough expertise on this forum to keep you straight. I installed a 210w panel and victron 100/30 MPPT with Smartshunt and battery sense's. Monitor everything from my phone or Ipad to get an idea of what's going on with my batteries and power consumption. Would be lost without the shunt, battery voltage isn't a true indicator of battery status.

Hope this helps and good luck. It's a fun boat...

Craig thanks for the info. Is the AC and inverter set up on the R 23 the same as on the C 24? I would think it would be, but would not make that assumption.

Edmund - I believe so, the AC panel is powered from two sources, three if you have a Gen. Either Shore power or your inverter through the batteries.

I'm thinking the inverter package for 10 grand plus is not as good investment compared to a thousand bucks for good suitcase generator....for my particular usages. My need for AC is mostly for idle speed, just getting started on hot day, and at the hook with no shore power. According to some others, the inverter won't run the AC reliably unless the engine is revving pretty good.

If I'm missing something, I'd like to know. This outboard pocket cruiser niche is totally new to me. I've owned boats in most other niches, but not this one.
