I replaced the inverter on my C28 and have run into an issue. The wiring from the breaker (under the oven) is too short to reach the new inverter and the original plug is questionable and needs to be replaced anyway. What is the easiest way to access the breaker under the oven? There is no way I can reach in to that small area under the oven and do any work. Do I have to remove the over to access the breaker? Has anyone moved this breaker to a more reasonable location?

To get to the ELCI breaker and replace it the best way would be to remove the oven.

My question is why do you want to wire the inverter to the ELCI?

The inverter should be wired directly to the rotary switch at the blue sea panel. You must keep all shore power connections completely isolated from the inverter. The only time this is not the case is if the inverter you are installing is equipped with a auto transfer switch. This would require hard wiring the inverter with a AC120 V input and a hardwire output from the inverter to the breaker panel. In this case the transfer switch will isolate the inverter from all shore power and generator ground and neutrals and hot this inverter would be in compliance with the UL458 standard. If you have a single 120V connection (plug) coming out of the inverter this connection Must go to an isolating switch. In the Cutwater this switch is the Rotary switch at the Blue Sea breaker panel. It is a Must that the inverter neutral and ground from the inverter be isolated when using a power source from another utility. (shore power, generator) The same goes for each of those sources. There can only be one power generating (shore power, inverter, generator) source at a time with the ground /neutral connected at a time. "The NEC and ABYC standards require that bonding be at the “source,” and only at the “source.“

The ELCI with shore power connection should not have an inverter connection.

I may have misunderstood your question if so disregard this. If I did understand your question and you are wiring your inverter to the ELCI do not disregard this. Read the inverter installation manual completely.

I installed a 1220 Kisea inverter to my C26 Cutwater. It has a transfer switch but I did not utilize this feature. This installation is hardwired to the inverter (no Plug, Plug connections for in exterior boat storage area's is not a good combination. 20 amp plug receptacle can be subject to corrosion, loose or disconnected causing additional resistance and heat.) The other end of the 10/2 boat cable is hardwired to the blue sea PN 9077 Rotary switch. This isolates the hot/neutral and neutral/ground bond from generator and shore power. I have drawings of the wiring installation. You can PM if you would like to review them.

I may have mistaken where that wiring was coming from. I assume then that, since power has to be totally separate from shore power and the same 120 volt outlets are used when the inverter is on that the separation is maintained at the rotary switch? Thank you from saving me from going down a rabbit hole. Hopefully routing that wiring is a little easier.

Yes if properly wired the rotary switch will separate each service Shore Power, Generator and inverter.
