The problem for me is that the vhf radio screen is very difficult to read because it is located near the bottom of the panel. This I believe is to reserve the large area beside the chart plotter to permit another plotter. I would like to move the radio to the upper part of the helm area where the screen would be much easier to read. Appreciate any thought on this.

Not sure which radio you have but the former owner of my boat installed a Garmin remote slave radio that connects to the main radio. It has all the functions and display of the main radio in a handheld unit mounted at eye level on the pillar just right of the helm. I have since removed it since I intelled a Vesper unit in the same place which is a back up. Depending on your radio, this might work for you.

Thanks to all. My c28 has a standard horizon radio which offers a remote which I plan to buy

Hi Bruce,
Just got my Garmin remote handset. The mounting plate is pretty ugly did you cover it with something?

Round with three screws? Only thing we covered it with was the remote handset. Really only visible when the handset was in hand.

Cheers,

Bruce
