Hi all,

When you turn off the fridge, is there a way to have it completely dry without wiping dripping water for an hour?

Thanks

We just tie it open an let it evaporate. We also don’t often leave it on when not on the boat so it doesn’t build up ice in the freezer.

I do the same format as I do when doing extended cruising. I empty the refrigerator and then use a hair dryer to melt the ice. Once it starts to melt you can usually pluck large sheets off with your fingers. Do not use a sharp tool. You could puncture a coil. Once all the ice is removed and or melted I wipe it down and I am done. The whole process takes about 15 or 20 minutes, depending on how much ice build up there is.

We shut ours off an hour or so before returning to port (placing our cold things in a soft sided cooler). Then wipe it down when we get back (pull the small tray below the freezer put to wipe it down as well). When we close up the boat, we put a small "rechargeable" passive (absorbent) dehumidifier in the refrigerator and close the door.

Not sure if the link above will work but we use an Eva-dry E-333, 15 bucks from Amazon.
