Greetings,

I have been on C28s which featured a removable sound shield mounted in front of the engine directly beneath the door to the cabin… providing for a dramatic difference in noise inside the cabin with the engine running.

The C28 I purchased however doesn’t have this, and the previous owner bought it new never having heard of such a thing.

I’d like to make one… and thought it would be a big help if the dimensions were known ahead of time… perhaps there’s a factory drawing of it. Also I thought I’d see if any others had run into this for some input… specifically is a certain insulation recommended.

Many thanks!

Let's figure this out. I attempted this a couple of years ago without success. I used two pieces of heavy packing cardboard with a blanket in between all duct taped together. Not very pretty, but I thought it would help and was surprised it helped very little. It is an odd shape/space to fill. I need to attempt this again with some better sound absorbing material or purchase something from the factory, if that is even possible.

The decibels at cruising are in the low 80s and I would like to get the sound down into the low 70s. Any advice or direction would be appreciated.

Sounds like a valiant R&D effort !
