Hi all. Maybe a silly question.

Is it normal to have water around the shower sump box near the sonar transducer?

Hello,

Most of the time the reason you will see water is from the connecting stringer drains from the rear to the forward end. If it doesn't drain out when you get the bow high, the majority reason is because this area sits lower than the rear bilge and may need to evacuate the water manually. I would remove the water from the area and continue to monitor it. If you keep getting water forward, I would want to investigate further to find out where it is coming from.

The water doesn't drain from my forward sump area to the aft bilge even when running with the bow high. I ran a snake almost 11' from the drain hole under the engine and that seems OK. When I ran a plastic snake from the drain hole in the aft part of the shower sump/depth transducer area, it hit something at about 11" in. I believe it was the aft part of the fwd cabin pan. I assume the water is suppose to run under the F/G pan that holds the fuel tank to the drain hole under the engine. The shower sump leaks a little in rough weather and is not a big problem, but I feel the sump should drain to the bilge pumps in case I did have a problem with water in the bow. I have heard that the fwd sump not draining is sometimes a problem and I should use a long drill bit to fix it. I have not tried this because of my concerns about drilling into the fuel tank. What is the fix?

Thanks.

I sent a message to Ivan @ Cutwater and he sent photos showing the drain system on the C28. I ended up using a F/G rod and pushed it further into the drain hole from the shower sump bilge area to knock out 'foam'. The area drains properly now. Thanks Ivan.
