How can I access the forward bilge pump on the C30? It is installed in front of the engine, apparently close to the bulkhead. I can't find any good way to reach it for replacement. Am I missing something?

Related, could I install a replacement on the starboard side of the engine? I would connect to the same out-flow line (i.e., disconnect the existing pump and connect a new pump to that line). The replacement pump would be at approximately the same depth as the existing forward pump, except it would be much more accessible, next to the engine and near the raw water intake. The one change (minor, I think -- for the forward pump) is that it would not be on centerline.

Specifically, in this photo https://photos.app.goo.gl/1cijH23X5VceibHJ7 it would move the forward pump to this location next to the engine.

Thoughts about either accessing it where it is, or moving it? Thanks!

Hi Chris,

I recently went through something similar to get belts changed on my C30-CB. As I understand it, if you open the hatch just inside the cabin door where the freshwater pump is, you can remove the Webasto box and the panel that it is attached to has several screws that can be removed. Once the Webasto box and panel are removed, there's insulation that has to be peeled back and then you should have access to the front side of the engine. Once you've replaced the pump, you have to do it all in reverse to put it all back together... :-D

Oh, I see now! Have to disconnect the fuel lines from the pump for the diesel heater, which is vertically mounted on the back wall of the under-galley hatch. Then remove that panel (I never noticed it was a panel).

I'm not thrilled to tinker with fuel lines but guess that's the way it is. It's not terribly complex as such things go.

Thank you, Dave!

you got it, Chris! My mechanic was... less than thrilled at the access for changing the belts... he uttered a few choice words during the process! :-D
