No transducer depth/sonar readings on the Garmin display. It has been working for 2+ years but recently stopped. I read some threads which suggested fluid may be low. If correct, what type of fluid is needed and what is the procedure?

Any other suggestions that I may have missed?

Thank you,

John

Thank you, is there a tank/cover on the transducer? sealed?

It is a threaded cap that unscrews off the top

You may find its not mounted in a cup with fluid. it may be mounted (glued) to the hull directly. if thats the case the seal may have broken. mine was installed this way and had developed a hairline crack in the glue. I removed and installed the cup. the cup likes to leak but when working is very good.

also before doing any of this reset your depth sounding settings to auto. in case you have made a setting change that is hiding the signal

It's mounted in a cup and it was 2/3 full of fluid. I topped it off and seems to be working at the dock. The real test is when I take her out. I noticed the keel indicator on the Garmin transducer is mounted directly to starboard. The youtube video indicated it should be pointed to the keel. I am not sure if that's wrong or if there was some reason the factory installed it that way? Thoughts? and what's the impact by leaving it as is pointed to starboard? I can't really change it since the cup is glued to the hull and the transducer locks in with a quarter turn. Left me pondering if there if some rationale for it in that position.
