C30 Subwoofer

Has anyone added a sub(s) / amp to their C30 or C30-CB? I replaced my head unit with the new Fusion Apollo, but the bass is still seriously lacking with the Fusion wall mount speakers in the cabin / v-berth and the 6" and 4" fusion speakers in cockpit and on the command bridge. It seems like a tremendous amount of work to run wiring from the head unit to wherever the sub(s) and amp will be located... thanks!

Dave, I replaced the two small cabin Fusion speakers with these from Rockville. 6 1/2" main speaker. These are outdoor speakers, normally used for patios, decks, etc. But are perfect for our boats. They have an option for 70 volts for long line outdoor use, but also have a switch position on the back for normal 8 ohms.

Note that the small stock Fusions interior speakers are 4 ohm. The 8 ohm speakers from Rockville work perfectly. World of a difference in the sound quality. Bob/Bradenton

PS: Due to their weight, I added about 8" to the existing cabin speaker leads so that I could support them while installing.

Thanks for the tip, Bob! Those seem a bit on the large size for my taste, but it looks like Polk makes something similar that is a bit smaller. I may try that. Thanks!

I have a Ranger R29 and installed a Fusion S102W Classic White 10-inch Marine Subwoofer under the galley table cut into the fiberglass on the side away from feet. It’s a free air subwoofer and does not need an enclosure. Bought a Fusion 2 channel amplifier to power it. I also installed an enclosed JL Audio M6 10FES under the dash of the command bridge powered by the same amp. I have bass to spare.

If you don’t mind making holes in fiberglass the Fusion driver is perfect. Never even see it.

The larger size Rockville speakers look pretty good in the cabin of my C-28. Tucked in the same corner as the smaller Fusion speakers. Same wiring. The larger the "woofer", the more bass the speakers are going to make. As noted, these Rockvilles have a 6 1/2" woofer. The stock Fusions are only 4" and "size matters".

Thanks bob. Sending message. The stock fusions in my 2016 c30 were only 3”, so even with the 4.5” Polk it should be a big improvement. I’m also going to get a quote for a sub / amp install. I’m not keen on cutting my own fiberglass!

Hi,
ran this subwoofer from walmart inside the V berth of Cutwater 28. They run around $80. Not the best, but the inputs from my older fusion radio switch the sub on and off. Also the fusion outdoor speakers have been replaced with the Polk Audio DB402 DB+ Series 4" Coaxial Speakers with Marine Certification, Black. Whenever you have a front facing subwoofer you will find they are more directional and being in a boat you loose the luxury of a downward facing sub which sends the sound everywhere.
