My 2015 C30 CB starter motor will not engage. After a successful 2021 winter storage and getting ready to launch in May 2022 at the beginning of last season the starter did engage. It almost started but battery became drained so I charged the battery overnight and went to attempt to start the motor and there was "nothing"-no starter engagement - maybe a click-but it did not make a sound similar an auto relay. I read the throttle neutral position may be culprit but it did seem be. I was thinking it was a Volvo Penta software code re-set thing.
I replaced all batteries and still the same result.
The only clue I find is the bridge Volvo LCD display is not lit so I can not press ignition/start from up top, but the throttle neutral is lit. I never start the boat from the bridge anyway.
Any suggestions?
Also, I am looking for a service center in Massachusetts, New Hampshire or Maine to bring my Cutwater C30CB to so I do not miss another season.
Thanks,
Irish Rake

Hi Irish,

It's a long shot, but make sure the helm from which you are trying to start (I assume main helm) has the station select switch engaged. Not sure what you're experiencing and would need more information to help, but another thing to check would be to make sure the electrical cables at the starter at the bottom of the engine are tight at their connections. Other than that, it would be time to get in contact with a Volvo service center. Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Ralf

sounds like a power issue to me.
not sure if your EVC is the same as mine but when I initially turn the key and the volvo display turns on I can hear a beep as the volvo eletronics boot up - are you hearing this? this is before you actually krank the engine. are you seeing the volvo electronics turn on on the volvo display?

also it sounds like your engine battery became very drained trying to start, which may have been a sign that its past its best and the recent recharge didnt actually restore its viability as a start battery.

I'd start by turning on the combine switch so your house and engine batteries are tethered together.
i'd probably still pull the engine battery and bench test it with a load tester.
