On our prior R-25 Classic we installed a BUGOFFSCREEN at the cabin door. The sides attached to the door frame with Velcro. Two magnets held the door shut. At the top it was held in place by a spring rod whose ends sat in little brass cups I installed. When purchasing we ordered slightly larger than the door frame as the instructions suggested and it was delivered a bit larger than we could have used.
It worked ok but the magnets didn’t always close properly without a bit of an assist. It did keep most bugs out of the cabin and let us keep the cabin door open for ventilation. Vicki loved it and I was ok with it.
For our C-28, the spring rod at the top would not work. We needed a Velcro fastening screen that attached on both sides and the top. So we ordered a Yotache Customized Magnetic Screen on Amazon. It was much less expensive than the BUGOFFSCREEN. Like the BUGOFFSCREEN, the ordering instructions said to order a bit larger than the door frame dimensions. The screen arrived last month and has been in place for a month now. After going through it several dozen times I am loving it! This screen features center magnetic pieces that run the full length of the opening. They work very, very well in closing the screen after each transit through the screen. The Velcro fasteners required taking off the existing loop Velcro for the privacy door canvas (which we never use) and installing the hook side Velcro to the door frame. Took about 10 minutes to install. Tip: order the door frame size plus 1/2” that’s all the “extra” you would need. The top of the screen above the opening is reinforced and looks pretty strong.
If you are thinking of getting a cabin door bug screen I recommend the Yotache screen.
