I would like to add a camera in the engine room to keep an eye on systems while underway. Main goal of systems for me are to monitor for fire, fuel leads, water, etc.
I have a 2014 30ft cutwater sedan with the garmin 7212 displays. They sell this compatible camera: http://amzn.com/B002NOBYLK

Instead of doing the cheaper CCTV cameras with an adapter this looks to be a good option because it is waterproof (IP66 rating) and can operate up to 140 degrees fahrenheit.
Questions:
What is the engine room operating temperature?
Any suggestions for path of travel to wire this back to my Garmin displays?
This is running 80-120 mAH. Very low of course but should I put a fuse on this before I plug it in since it could become compromised?
Does anyone have experience running cameras in a engine room? What else should I consider?
Any thoughts on mounting location?
If you know of a capable installer in Orange County, CA. please post their contact info.
