We are headed to Gulf Islands next week. I am having a lot of trouble understanding the restrictions for fruits and vegetables being on the boat when we clear customs. When I search online I can find rules for importers but not for personal use. The restrictions refer to AIRS page but that appears to apply only to importers. Can someone clarify for me what I can bring in onboard? Thanks in advance

We cleared 3 weeks ago. Standard restrictions on alcohol and cannabis that never change.
Food restrictions: no pitted fruits, no avocados, no fresh eggs or raw chicken. Absolutely no citrus.
No bell peppers or raw uncut potatoes. We slice up our peppers and remove all seeds, cut the root tips off of green onions too. And core our apples.
If in doubt about what you have just Declare It. If you do and they have it on the current naughty list all they will do is confiscate it.

When I clear I always fill out an index card with everything on board, and will read it to the customs agent (where you appear in person, you can hand it to them).

With alcohol, I frequently get the "as long as it is all consumed on board it's fine."

With fruits and vegetables, it can depend a bit... sometimes with prohibited items they tell me that I just have to consume it all on board. Other times, I have to forfeit it or promise that I won't drop garbage. A bit I think depends on length of stay.
