Can’t get thruster remote to work

I’ve put new batteries in the remote, turned on the switch at the helm that says thruster. Still nothing. What am I missing?

The remote has two ON buttons at one end. Press both buttons at the same time and the lights in the remote flash to let you know it is ON. On mine turning on the thrusters at the helm joysticks has nothing to do with turning on the remote. Remember to turn the remote off by pressing remote OFF.

Thanks I did do that but maybe I didn’t do it right. Will try tomorrow. One more thing. The switch I see is on a dc distribution panel at the helm. An inch above the switch is a rubber “boot”. What is that?

It’s a wee circuit breaker, pushing it in resets it. The rubber boot is kinda squishy so you have to push it several times and in several directions to get it to reset - IF that’s the problem. Also, double check that you have the batteries in the right way, it’s easy to put them in backwards. DAMHIK. 😳

Pretty frustrating. Thruster rocker switch shows power. Batteries installed correctly. I’m beginning to think the remote itself is broken or the receiver is not working. Any idea of where the receiver is located?

Under the thruster control levers at the helm. Pop off the four small plastic covers at the corners of the switch plate and take out the screws underneath them. There’s a nest of wires under there and if you gently pull them out of the hole you’ll likely find the receiver. Perhaps a loose wire? Here’s where my memory gets a bit foggy, but I think there’s a procedure for re-pairing the remote. Try that before you take things apart.

Btw, there is a thruster troubleshooting flowchart in the Ranger Technical Bulletin section on this forum but I’m not sure if it has info on the remote. If all else fails, contact Sidepower. Good luck.

i have to turn on the accessory breaker which turns on the bluetooth recieve for the thruster remote on my boat before I can press both on buttons on the remote.
